Ice Breaker: Traditional Sounds & Culinary Flavours
An icebreaker reception will take place at 8 p.m. at Hotel Marrakech Le Semiramis on Wednesday, May 15. At the start of the conference, the icebreaker will allow you to meet and network with your colleagues from other environmental science areas. The event will highlight some of Morocco's rich musical traditions (Gnawa, Berber, and Sahraoui music), as well as some of the traditional Moroccan culinary flavours. We welcome all attendees free of charge.

City Tour: Marrakesh By Caleche
We are arranging a caleche ride at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 16. The trip is an excellent way to move around Marrakech and see some of the most intriguing locations both inside and beyond the old city walls. The old tanneries and Majorelle Gardens are particularly interesting, but if you have a preference, you can change the itinerary by simply telling your guide what you'd like to visit. We will meet in front of the Koutoubia Mosque at 7.45 p.m., where the charming horse-drawn carriages will be waiting. The participation fee is 20 euros.

Gala Dinner: 1001 Arabian Nights & Moroccan Feast
We invite you to join the EMCEI-24 Gala Dinner at the 'Chez Ali Marrakech Show & Dinner' to enjoy the warmth of the Orient, thanks to its fantasy on the theme of 'Thousand and One Nights'. A bus will depart the conference center on Friday, May 17, at 7 p.m. to transfer participants to the dinner and folk show location. Join us for an unforgettable Moroccan dining experience with cultural entertainment. The participation fee is 80 euros (VIP lounge).

Excursion 1: M’goun UNESCO Global Geopark (Central High Atlas)
A three-day field trip to the northern side of Marrakech's High Atlas will take place on May 18, 19, and 20, 2024. The participation fee is 550 euros. It includes four-wheel drive transportation, lodging, and meals. For additional information, download the field trip brochure and watch this video:

Excursion 2: Ourika Valley & High Atlas Mountains
A one-day excursion to Marrakech's Ourika Valley and High Atlas Mountains is scheduled for May 18, 2024. Ourika Valley is a popular tourist site in Marrakech owing to its numerous waterfalls and gorgeous scenery. When we arrive at the valley's entrance, we begin the adventure by visiting the Ourika Bio-Aromatic Garden, which is dedicated to serving the environment, the senses, and well-being. Breakfast will be served among the fragrant, medicinal, and attractive plants of the region.
This day tour to the valley's lovely Berber douars and villages will allow you to see some of the splendor of Morocco's High Atlas environment in a perfect setting for admiring stunning views. The guides will take you on a picture tour of the locations, shops, and waterfalls before lunch on the valley's slopes, which will include a Berber tagine. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty and cultural richness of this region, and savor the spectacular vistas that will leave an unforgettable impression on your heart.
